Strange menalism with a balloon and lighter by Bill Montana and Paul Carpenter...
Two balloons are shown on a stand. The Mentalist asks a spectator to chose one of the balloons. After this is done one balloon is handed to the spectator and he/she is asked to blow the balloon up, tie it, and return it to the Mentalist. While the spectator is blowing up the balloon, the Mentalist asks to borrow a cigarette lighter. Once the inflated balloon is returned, the Mentalist lights the lighter and moves the flame toward the balloon until the flame is in contact with the balloon. The expected happens, the balloon pops.
The effect is repeated by the Mentalist with the other balloon, but this time he will use the power of his mind to keep the balloon from bursting. This is done and the balloon does not pop (but it does get a little charred from contact with the lighter). The charred balloon is left on the table and the show continues with the next effect.
